Our food and wine culture

Rovigo and its province offer a wide range of dishes, food and wine products. Some of them are tied to the history and tradition of the area, some others are closely linked to their geographical origin. 

The fruit and vegetable district of Lusia and Rosolina and the fish district of Rovigo-Chioggia are some of the best areas that excel in the local economy. Among the selected noteworthy typicality are Lusia salad PGI, Scardovari mussels PDO, Po Delta rice PGI, White garlic of Polesine PDO, the radicchio rosso (red chicory) from Chioggia and Rosolina and Melara pumpkin.

Typical dishes which deserve to be mentioned are polenta polesana (polenta of  Polesine), whose origins date back to the 16 th century; risotto alla "canarola", a typical dish of the Basso Polesine (the southern part of the province); "pasta e fasoi" (pasta and beans), “fasoi in potacin" (stewed beans), "la bondola" polesana, one of the most typical salamis and for desserts, sweet potato cake and "sugoli" (a pudding made with the must of red grapes, flour and sugar).
